Elisabeth Green relies on steel enamel for sustainable design – The blogger from Berlin creates three bathrooms with KALDEWEI products

KALDEWEI, Ahlen, October 2022 – Elisabeth Jacobs has been writing about sustainable lifestyle on her blog ElisabethGreen.com for almost a decade. Jacobs recently moved to the outskirts of Berlin with her husband and son. The spacious semi-detached house had three bathrooms, and when re-designing these, sustainability was her top priority.

High quality, durable and recyclable materials, short transport route, with a low carbon footprint plus the “Made in Germany” label were important to the blogger from the outset. When planning her three bathrooms she wanted to do so without using any form of plastics. After extensive research and several visits to bathroom studios, steel enamel emerged as the material of her choice, and when it came to style, rounded and oval shapes were important to Elisabeth Jacobs.  The resulting bathrooms are:  a natural bathroom, a chic and styled bathroom and a guest bathroom – all equipped with products made from sustainable and 100 percent recyclable KALDEWEI steel enamel.

For the family’s new natural bathroom, the blogger selected the MIENA washbowl and a CONODUO bathtub with the SKIN TOUCH system. The styled bathroom is moody and modern in darker colours, with two black matt MIENA washbowls and a black matt CONOFLAT shower surface.  In the guest bathroom harmony reigns and a MING washbowl makes a real statement in terms of style, design and sustainability.

“KALDEWEI embodies everything that is important to me: sustainable materials with a long service life, high quality, fair working conditions and beautiful design. This way I am guaranteed to be able to enjoy the washbasins, shower and bathtub for a long time without it being at the expense of others,” says Elisabeth Jacobs. In particular, the promise that the products last 30 years and longer convinced her and her husband. Another essential aspect is the production “Made in Germany”, because regionality is inevitably linked to sustainability for the family.

In an interview with KALDEWEI, Elisabeth Jacobs talks about her bathroom planning experiences so that others can also benefit from her knowledge. She explains how she was won over by the steel enamel material and why she appreciates the sanitary products from KALDEWEI so much. She also gives tips on how private individuals can master the ecological challenges when building their own home.
